Dr Kusuma Neela said the food should be balanced with protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins and minerals since food plays an important role in improving immunity. "Egg, milk, fruits, leafy vegetables, cereals and nuts are important sources," she said.

She said that Vitamin C which is available in various fruits is very important. Likewise, vitamins A, B, E and D also play a very important role in improving immunity and they are available in leafy vegetables, fruits and nuts.

Physical exercise should be made regular to improve immunity and walking and staying in the morning sunlight would be good.

She suggested avoidance of smoking and alcohol. "Keep calm and sleep at least 6 to 8 hours per day.

Dr Kusuma Neela warned people not to ignore immunity since more the immunity more protection from Covid-19.

After 35 years of age, one should be more careful in taking food, exercise and sleep.
