Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) has procured 30 thermal scanners and started conducting random thermal screening in Red Zone areas. The VMC staff is conducting tests in the Red Zone areas of Krishnalanka, Khddus Nagar, Kedareswara Peta, Karmika Nagar, Machavaram, Vidyadharapuram, Bhavanipuram, Ajit Singh Nagar and a few other places.

If any person is found suffering from fever and showing symptoms, the Medical and Health staff will be alerted. The VMC staff is also conducting thermal screening at the VMC office since Wednesday as two civic body employees tested positive for Covid-19. They are undergoing treatment at the Covid-19 treatment centre. They are recovering from the illness.

Municipal Commissioner Prasanna Venkatesh is monitoring the sanitation. The Commissioner is conducting Dial Your Commissioner programme to receive the complaints from 11 am to 12 noon from the denizens and taking measures to address the grievances of the citizens. On Wednesday, residents narrated their problems relating to street lighting, pensions, house site pattas, sanitation and ration cards. The Commissioner appealed to the people to avail the facility.
