Vijayawada: In order to ease the traffic chocked junctions, the new Adaptive Traffic Control System (ATCS) will be implemented as an experiential at 17 crossroads under Vijayawada Police Commissionerate limits.

There are about 180 junctions here in the city. In the first phase Prakasam Barrage to Benz circle road, Varadhi to Airport, Vinayaka temple, Gadda Bomma center, Prakasam statue road, Old Bus stand, Bandar locks road, Golden Pavilion, Raghavaiah park, Raj Bhavan, State Guest House, DCP Bangalow junction, Balaji Nagar, RTA circle, Screw bridge, Ramavarapadu ring road, and new Autonagar junctions will be interlinked with ATCS.

The commuters often face traffic chaos at these junctions. After considering all aspects, the officials are making initiations for the faster movement of vehicles in a short time. All signals will be connected with an Integrated Intelligent Signaling System, which works through the centralized control room. The special cameras installed to this system will count the vehicles, categorize them and send the information to the Command Control Center.

Depending upon the traffic, the signals will work at the junctions. If there is heavy traffic, then the time duration of the green signal will be higher to clear the vehicles on the route. This signalling system will work with solar power.
