Visakhapatnam: A public awareness programme on 'Child trafficking free India' was conducted at Visakhapatnam Public Library here on Friday.

Kailash Satyardhi Foundation, Visakha Forum for Child Rights (VFCR), AP Pro Child Group, Child Rights Advocacy Foundation jointly organised the event. People from various departments like District Crime Records Bureau, Child Welfare Committee, Juvenile Justice Board, Women Development and Child Welfare, and District probation Office along with NGO and public representatives took part and shared their views.

They shared some of significant suggestions to create awareness about child trafficking among public. As part of the awareness campaign, they suggested to conduct camps, parental meetings at slum areas, control of internet usage among the younger generation and strengthening of anti-human trafficking units.

Speakers at the meeting on child trafficking, president of the Forum of Legal Professionals, Kuppili Muralidhar said that implementation of machinery of criminal justice system is very weak and law is full of loopholes which must be plugged at the earliest.

BJP MLC P V N Madhav, SCPCR member K Appa Rao, Child Rights Advocacy Foundation Director T Francis, District Legal Service Authority secretary S Damodara Rao, AU Prof Usha, Child Welfare Committee chairperson N Shyamalarani, members of VFCR Abdul Raqueeb and B Hari Venkataramana, among others were present.
