Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy reviewed the impact of the cyclone Nivar with officials at the camp office on Thursday morning. CMO officials briefed the Chief Minister on the impact of the cyclone and the downpour. They explained that the storm had hit the coast and was gradually weakening. The told the Chief Minister that it is raining in Erpedu, Srikalahasti, Satyavedu and Nellore districts of Chittoor, as well as some parts of Kadapa and Anantapur districts. Nellore district received an average rainfall of 7 cm, they asserted to Chief Minister explained.

The officials have said to the Chief Minister that there would be a excess flow in the Penna River and the water would be released in view of the inflow coming in as Somasila reservoir is already full. "There have been sporadic incidents of crop failure and damage assessment programs will be carried out as soon as the rains subside," officials briefed. They explained that steps were being taken to rescue those trapped near the Mallemadugu Reservoir in Renigunta. Chief Minister YS Jagan has directed that all measures be taken in the cyclone-affected areas. He suggested to support the family of the deceased due to electric shock in Nellore district and directed to make immediate estimates of crop damage after the rains and to be ready to provide immediate assistance.

Meanwhile, cyclone Nivar which crossed the coast near Puducherry made landfall in the state. The cyclone turned into a severe cyclone and entered Chittoor district. The meteorological department said that this will affect Chittoor, Nellore, Anantapur and Kadapa districts predicted heavy to very heavy rains for 24 hours. Streams and ponds are overflowing due to the rains that have been falling since Wednesday night and inland areas have been inundated.
