1) Be Consistent
Please keep your online profile updated and make sure that there is no real disparity between the hard copy of your resume and the information on site.
2) Upload a Professional Picture
Put up the latest, high-resolution, clear, and professional picture to go with your profile on platforms like Linkedin. Please avoid putting up a casual, holiday, party or wedding photo.
3) Join Groups and Communities
Head hunters scrap out candidates from groups on Twitter or LinkedIn. So join only appropriate groups, showcase your talent and knowledge by taking part in industry conversations.
4) Follow the Leaders
These can be the best people in your field or dream corporations. Occasionally re-post their content or make thoughtful remarks. But please ensure that you don't stalk them.
5) Do Not Criticize
Never chat bad of your past or current employers and colleagues on any social media site. This will end your job search within no time.
6) Don't Be Violent
If you have a habit of posting politically offensive, racist or sexist content, then nobody can save you from getting fired. And avoid putting up too many posts, this may convey that you are always idle.
7) Google Search Yourself
Before applying for a job, please do this as it will fling up some questionable pictures or content that you could have missed out on. Carry out a hygiene check and get rid of inappropriate and unprofessional images or content.
8) Avoid Unethical Pictures
Especially on Instagram and Facebook check the privacy setting for past pictures. Go to 'Time & Tagging' and review who can see your posts and photos. If needed, modify the settings.
