Jodhpur High court has issued notice to Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari on an appeal by state govt challenging their acquittal in the case by a local court.

The four earlier were charged under the Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code but acquittal due to lack of evidence. While Salman Khan was charged alone under Section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act and was found guilty. The actor was sentenced to a 5 years of jail but was granted bail by sessions court two nights later.

In October 1998, Salman Khan allegedly shot two blackbucks in 'Bhagoda Ki Dhani' in Kankani village near Jodhpur. Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre, Neelam Kothari were present in the vehicle Salman allegedly used for hunting the endangered species.

Blackbucks are protected under Schedule 1 of the Indian Wildlife Act.
