Tollywood veteran actress Geetanjali breathes her last at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad
Tollywood senior actress Geetanjali passed away on Thursday at Apollo Hospital in Filmnagar, Hyderabad. She breathed her last after she suffered a severe heart attack at her residence.
Tollywood senior actress Geetanjali passed away on Thursday at Apollo Hospital in Filmnagar, Hyderabad. She breathed her last after she suffered a severe heart attack at her residence. Geetanjali, who has acted in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films were introduced to Tollywood with the film Sitaramula Kalyanam starring opposite NTR.
She has acted in over 500 films in all languages. Films such as Kalavari Kodal, Doctor Chakravarti, Letha Manasulu, Bobbili Yudham, Illaalu, Devatha, Goodachari 116, Sri Mariyadaramanna, Nirdoshi, Mayajalam, and Greekuveerudu are the best example for her performance.
Born to Sriramamurthy and Swamasundari in Kakinada in East Godavari district, Geetanjali pursued studies for some years at St. Joseph Convent, Kakinada. From the age of five, Geetanjali started dancing with her older sister from the age of six. Geetanjali's real name is Mani. In 1963, she appeared in the Hindi film Parasmani, which led her to change the name to Geetanjali.
The name is well established in the film industry. After the marriage with co-star Ramakrishna, she gave a break to films. Geetanjali's last film is Tamanna starrer That is Mahalaxmi. Geetanjali joined the Telugu Desam Party during the 2009 Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections.
