The Me Too movement took off in Hollywood after a well known producer Harvey Weinstein faced cases of sexual harassment against him. Some 80 women from all walks of life who had crossed paths with Weinstein accused him of misusing his position to seek sexual favors from women who were at his mercy. He was recently sentenced to 23 years in prison after he as proved guilty following several well known women testifying against him. The producer after being in denial through the trial finally begged for mercy.

Now, while this happened back home in Chennai, renowned singer Chinmayi Sripada who has been fighting a lonely battle against Vairamuthu after several women leveled similar allegations against him, reacted to Weinstein's sentencing saying that justice had been finally served. But at the same time Sripada said that the producer must be regretting not being born in India where people like him go Scot free. She states that had he been born in Tamil Nadu, Weinstein would have been partying with stars and politicians.

Have a look at her tweet...

Harvey Weinstein sentenced to 23 years in Prison.

This is the time he'd wish he were born in India. Especially in Tamilnadu.

He'd have been partying with stars, politicians and have odes written.

You'd actually be supported by political parties 100%

Mr Vairamuthu vs Harvey Weinstein. In a country where people who say themselves that they're your mentors will tell you Mundhanaiya virichutu MeToo nnuvaalunga. Or You're wasting your time in negativity as a musician. You have better things to do. Or Exposing your molester / abuser / exploiter only means you are pathetic to expect support and sympathy from people. Thereby making sure exploitation and negativity continues and of course dare you speak up and all these people who DONT want you to speak up either because of skeletons in their own closet or that they'd rather side with the aggressor because that's where they make more money, no? Not by doing the right thing. People often ask if they'd treat their daughters the same way. And I say, yes, they will. Because so many of these well meaning people have called me their 'Daughter'. That should give you an idea :) As for Harvey Weinstein - poor jackass he just had to say tamizha kaapatharen and write tamizh poetry. They'd all have supported the sexual abuse out of him. :) Or a Mr Radha Ravi. 'Koopadravalukum kumbudravalukum difference irukkanum'. 'nalla rape pannunga... appo dhan villain aaga mudiyum....' from a speech in Jan 2013 fresh after Nirbhaya gangrape where he joked about that too. I and multiple others were in the audience. He'd have been given a ticket to the BJP. Or even a Kuldeep Sengar. They ll keep you in the party until you have killed the entire rape victim's family and then maybe get VIP treatment in jail :) Thappana naatla porandhuttiye pa harvey. Tamizhnaatla porandhurndha they'd have given you more women to rape on a platter while you party with stars :) ptch. Loss. To the women who thundered on and sent Harvey Weinstein to jail. To the media and people who stood with the women and didn't ask "why so late?" It gives hope. You are our heroes. As Sona Mohapatra says - 11 March 2020 is a day to be remembered.
