Star heroines choose silence while Payal and Regina fight for Tollywood!
The debate surrounding comments on South Indian cinema has sparked fresh discussions in the Telugu film industry, with actresses Payal Rajput and Regina Cassandra openly expressing their support for Tollywood. Their responses have also drawn attention to the silence of several prominent Telugu actresses who have not yet commented on the controversy.
Payal Rajput recently shared a strong message, acknowledging the role of the Telugu film industry in shaping her career. “Tollywood made me who I am today. I will always stand by the industry that stood by me,” she stated. She also remarked that criticising an industry that provides recognition and opportunities should not be considered bravery.
Regina Cassandra has also raised concerns about her comments which can cause a divide between North and South Indian Cinema. She shared her personal experience with a Dharma Production project where she mentioned how she was left out of all the promotions despite being an important part of the project. She also questioned why a song with her in it was released without her being tagged and if being a South Indian Actress had any affect on her treatment.
The controversy started after some comments were made by Bollywood Actresses Janhvi Kapoor and Radhika Apte about South Indian Cinema and especially Tollywood.
However, the lack of comments from many top Telugu Actresses is also causing a stir on Social Media. Many fans feel that some of these well known Actresses who have risen to fame thanks to Tollywood should also recognise and support the industry.
Whilst we do not know why they are remaining silent, Payal and Regina's comments have brought attention to the discussion around regionalism, recognition and unity within Indian Cinema.
