With Holi around the corner, skincare takes center stage as the skin becomes the most exposed part of the body during the colorful festivities. To ensure skin safety amidst the vibrant celebrations, makeup expert Harlin Sachdeva, Founder of House of Makeup, has shared essential skincare tips. According to Sachdeva, proper skincare preparation is key to enjoying a worry-free Holi. She emphasizes the importance of moisturizing the skin thoroughly before the celebration, recommending the application of moisturizer on the face and petroleum jelly on lips, eyes, and eyebrows. Additionally, Sachdeva suggests using oil as a protective layer, especially for those with tolerant skin, to prevent colors from sticking. Broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 is also essential to shield the skin from harmful UV rays.

In line with promoting skin safety, Sachdeva urges individuals to opt for organic colors derived from natural sources such as plants and flowers. These colors are gentler on the skin and reduce the risk of irritation and allergies.

Post-celebration, Sachdeva emphasizes the importance of gentle skincare practices to remove colors effectively without causing harm to the skin. She recommends using micellar water-soaked cotton pads or oil-based removers to wipe off colors gently. For stubborn stains, DIY remedies like yogurt and honey mixture or baking soda paste can be effective. However, she cautions against harsh exfoliation, which can further irritate the skin.

To soothe and nourish the skin post-color removal, Sachdeva advises using moisturizers containing barrier-building ceramides and calming ingredients like aloe vera and chamomile. These calming agents help restore the skin’s natural balance and alleviate any discomfort caused by the festivities.

As Holi approaches, following these expert skincare tips can ensure a joyful and safe celebration, allowing everyone to revel in the vibrant colors without compromising on skin health.
