IIT Hyderabad launches 3-month programme to train professionals in real-world AI deployment
As organisations increasingly move from experimenting with Artificial Intelligence (AI) to deploying AI solutions in real-world environments, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad) has announced the launch of its Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) Practitioner Program, a three-month professional programme designed to equip participants with the engineering skills required to develop, integrate and deploy AI systems in operational settings.
While developing an AI prototype or demonstration has become increasingly accessible, translating it into a reliable, production-ready system presents several challenges. Organisations must ensure that AI solutions integrate seamlessly with existing software, databases, application programming interfaces (APIs), business workflows and operational requirements. They must also be evaluated, monitored and continuously improved after deployment.
The FDE Practitioner Program aims to address these challenges through a deployment-focused approach that brings engineers closer to real-world problems, end users and the environments in which AI technologies are expected to function. The programme will cover key areas, including agentic AI systems, AI workflows, automation and production AI engineering. Participants will learn how individual AI capabilities can be integrated into larger systems and understand the technical decisions involved in moving from an initial use case to a deployment-ready solution.
The three-month programme will feature a combination of lecture sessions, guided practical exercises, research talks by IIT Hyderabad faculty, webinars by industry practitioners and hands-on development of AI systems. The learning structure aims to bridge the gap between theoretical understanding and practical implementation, with particular emphasis on the engineering requirements of deploying AI solutions at scale. Highlighting the importance of a multidisciplinary approach, the programme will treat AI deployment as a systems engineering challenge.
Engineers will explore how AI models, application logic, enterprise software, data interfaces and business workflows work together to deliver functional solutions in operational environments. The programme will be led by Dr. Praveen Tammana, along with Dr. Ashish Mishra, Dr. Anupam Sanghi and Dr. Abhijit Das from IIT Hyderabad’s Department of Computer Science and Engineering. N. V. S. S. Koundinya will serve as the industry lead.
Participants will also have opportunities to engage with IIT Hyderabad faculty members, industry professionals and fellow participants working on applied engineering challenges. Those who successfully fulfil the prescribed programme requirements will receive a certificate issued by IIT Hyderabad.
Registrations open
The Forward Deployed Engineering Practitioner Program is scheduled to commence on December 5, 2026. With limited seats available, professionals and organisations can access programme details and registration information through the official website: https://ailaunchpad.cse.iith.ac.in/.
