Final verification for 46.63L flagged voters launched
Amaravati: With the final electoral rolls under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), 2026) scheduled to be published on October 16, the Election Commission has launched a special drive in Andhra Pradesh to re-verify 46.63 lakh electors flagged during the revision process and identify eligible voters who may have been left out.
Chief Electoral Officer and E O Vivek Yadav said Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would begin fresh door-to-door verification from Thursday, carrying polling-station-wise lists of 46,62,583 deleted names. The exercise is aimed at ensuring that genuine voters are not inadvertently excluded while ineligible names remain out of the rolls.
During the enumeration phase from June 15 to July 24, BLOs conducted house-to-house verification and found 44,89,512 electors not available at their registered addresses due to death, permanent migration, multiple enrolments, untraceability and other reasons. Following verification and removal of such entries, the draft electoral rolls published on July 31 contained 3,71,38,182 electors. The scrutiny did not end with the draft publication. During the subsequent notice phase, another 1,73,071 electors were found ineligible as on October 6 for inclusion in the final roll. The latest drive will specifically recheck the flagged cases. If an elector is found to have been deleted inadvertently, the BLOs will facilitate filing of Form-6, enabling restoration of the name after due verification through continuous updation.
The CEO said the exercise was part of the ECI’s objective of ensuring that no eligible voter is left out while ineligible names are excluded.
The final SIR rolls will be published on October 16. However, voters who miss inclusion in the final roll will not lose the opportunity to register subsequently. The electoral system provides four qualifying dates- January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1- and eligible persons can apply through Form-6 during continuous updation. The Annual Summary Revision is conducted with January 1 of the succeeding year as the qualifying date.
