Three-day Amaravati literature fete from today
Amaravati: SRM University–AP is set to host the second edition of the Amaravati Literature Festival (ALF) from Wednesday. Organised by the Department of Literature and Languages under the Easwari School of Liberal Arts (ESLA), the three-day event centers on the theme “Stories for a Changing World”. Building on the success of its 2025 inaugural edition, ALF 2026 reinforces Amaravati’s position as a growing hub for ideas, culture, and intellectual exchange.
The festival features distinguished guests, including Tejaswi Podapati, Chairperson of the Andhra Pradesh State Creativity and Culture Commission; district collector CM Saikanth Varma, and acclaimed actor and comedian ‘Padma Shri’ Brahmanandam.
Prof Ch Satish Kumar, Vice Chancellor of SRM University–AP, emphasised the institution’s commitment to enriching the region’s cultural landscape by bringing national and global conversations to Amaravati. Prof Vishnupad, Dean of ESLA, noted that the event aims to nurture reading habits, creativity, and critical thinking among youth.
A wide array of notable thinkers, writers, and cultural practitioners—including Mini Krishnan, Appupen, Sheela Tomy, Samhita Arni, Roopa Pai, and Dinesh C Sharma—will lead discussions across disciplines. Key festival highlights include traditional Yakshagana theatrical performance directed by Begar Shivakumar, Prahelika, an inter-college literary and cultural quiz spanning arts, cinema, music, and history, a creative writing session by Samhita Arni addressing artistic processes and creative blocks.
Convened by Dr Argha Basu alongside Co-Convenors Dr Parvathy N and Dr Aniruddha N, ALF 2026 celebrates the power of storytelling to challenge assumptions, connect communities, and imagine new possibilities in a dynamic world.
