Bengaluru: Karnataka will extend full support to advance space technology, research and the SpaceTech and DeepTech ecosystem in the state, Science and Technology Minister Ajay Dharam Singh said on Tuesday.

The minister met ISRO Chairman and Secretary, Department of Space, V Narayanan, and congratulated him and the organisation's scientists and engineers on the successful GSLV-F17/EOS-05 mission.

Describing the achievement as a matter of national pride, Singh said Karnataka was committed to supporting space science, research, startups and emerging technologies.

“Karnataka has historically been home to ISRO and India's space ecosystem. The state must continue to remain at the forefront of the country's next phase of SpaceTech and DeepTech growth,” he said.

During the meeting, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar spoke to Narayanan over the phone and congratulated the ISRO Chairman and his team on the successful mission.

Singh said there was scope for greater cooperation between ISRO and the Karnataka government in science, technology and emerging innovation sectors.

He said a meeting involving the Chief Minister and ISRO leadership would be organised later this month to explore areas for deeper collaboration.

The minister said ISRO's guidance and cooperation would be important in strengthening Karnataka's position in the country's space and deep-technology ecosystem.(eom)
