Dr Sarath Chandra mouli, Clinical Director (Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology), KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, organised a 2K walk for road safety at Jalavihar, Necklace Road, on Sunday, in association with KIMS Hospitals. The event was aimed at increasing traffic awareness to bring down the number of accidents on roads.

Khairatabad: Dr Sarath Chandra mouli, Clinical Director (Rheumatology and Clinical Immunology), KIMS Hospital, Secunderabad, organised a 2K walk for road safety at Jalavihar, Necklace Road, on Sunday, in association with KIMS Hospitals. The event was aimed at increasing traffic awareness to bring down the number of accidents on roads.

Vemula Prashanth Reddy, the State Minister of Transport, Road, Buildings, and Legislative Affairs, was the chief guest and special invitees were Prof Padmashri Kakarla Subba Rao, the former Director of NIMS and Chairman of KIMS Foundation Research Centre, SGK Kishore Babu, the CEO of GMR Hyderabad International Airport, CN Raghu Prasad, the Zonal Commissioner of GHMC, Secunderabad Zone, and Dr Purnima A Nagaraj, Consultant Psychiatrist, Dhrithi Clinic, Hyderabad.

The event saw more than 1,000 participants in the road safety 2K walk. Similar walks were organised at twenty places at AP and Telangana. Chief guests and special invitees and the organisers very stressed on the importance of road safety and usefulness of helmets, use of zebra crossings, avoiding red signal jumping, carefully looking for potholes, uneven speed breakers, and the importance of footpaths and foot override.

Prashanth Reddy said that the government was introducing traffic syllabus in schools. Public needs education on what's right of way, drunk driving, seat belt, lane discipline and texting and driving etc. Dr Sarath organised the event as part of his community project 'Traffic Awareness To Avoid Accidents'( TATAA).

Victims of the road traffic accidents shared their stories that moved participants and helped understand the aftermath effects of accidents The program ended with administering a pledge to all the participants on following road safety rules.
