Cyberabad Commissioner of Police VC Sajjnar said that all the New Year bashes under Cyberabad Commissionerate limits are banned. "No permission is given for the New Year events at resorts, pubs, clubs and bars on December 31 night," the CP said.

He also added that ban is also imposed on the year ending parties at apartments and gated communities.

Sajjanar said that action would be initiated if anyone found violating the orders and asked the public to cooperate with the police. He said that decision has been taken in the view of corona pandemic.

He also said the drunk and drive checks would be conducted across the city and also advised the pubs and restaurants not to run beyond the permitted timings during the New Year.

The state health department also wrote to the police, excise and GHMC to impose a ban on New Year celebrations fearing of second wave coronavirus infections. It is known that the health department was put on alert after the detection of new strain of coronavirus in UK.

Around seven persons out of the total 1,200 arrived from UK has tested positive for the virus.
