The Congress leaders from Old City launched the party’s election campaign vehicle after performing puja at the famous Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple of Laldarwaza amidst much fanfare.

Laldarwaza: The Congress leaders from Old City launched the party's election campaign vehicle after performing puja at the famous Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple of Laldarwaza amidst much fanfare.

Speaking to The Hans India, Party senior leader and State Rajiv Seva Samithi president K Venkatesh said that the vehicle was launched after completing rituals at the temple and with a wish that the party wins Hyderabad seat this time. The programme was attended by senior leaders K Suresh Babu, Musa Qasim, Rajesh, Valmiki, G Srinivas, Ashok Teja, T Krishna Das, Daram veer, Krishna and others.

The Congress leader later informed that as part of the campaigning the Hyderabad parliamentary candidate from the party Mohammed Feroz Khan visited Sultan Shahi and paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi by garlanding her statue in the locality.

Venkatesh called upon his party men to strive for ensuring the win of the party candidate in the general elections. He said that Congress party remains steadfast in upholding welfare activities of the poor and downtrodden. He explained that if Congress comes to power some 20 % population which is considered poor would receive Rs 72,000 per annum as part of NYAY scheme.

The local leaders requested the voters to ensure win of Congress candidate Feroz Khan for a change and development of the Old City. "People who wish to change the situation should vote for Feroz and make him win with thumping majority. I request all the party men from the area to strive for his win and Congress party. It is in the best interests of the nation to ensure Congress win at the Centre in 2019 general elections," the appealed to residents during his campaign.

Towards ensuring that electoral process was going as per the norms, later the Congress leader from Old City, Venkatesh also visited strong rooms where EVMs and other election related material is stored in Nampally Exhibition grounds. He said that the Electoral officers took the political leaders representing different political parties into the strong rooms located in Kamala Nehru Polytechnic College inside Exhibition grounds.

Venkatesh along with Mohammed Ahmed of TDP and others examined the strong rooms with the help of Charminar ARO and Zonal Commissioner B Srinivas Reddy. The leaders were assured that they would be invited to monitor official sealing of the equipment just prior to elections.
