Hydernagar: In a laudable gesture, local corporator Janakirama Raju on Thursday donated Rs 10,000 to a mentally challenged school, 'Medhosampathi,' in Adityanagar to mark the Children's Day celebrations.

He launched the day by lighting the traditional lamp and witnessed sports competitions organised for the students. Addressing the gathering, Raju described service to mentally challenged children as a great deed.

He said students of the school teachers were studying in the same institution. The corporator lauded the teachers for giving a boost to the mental faculty of the students, while pledging to strive for the development of the institution.

The corporator handed over prizes to the winners of sports competitions. School Principal Meena felicitated Raju with a garland and a shawl. Among those present were Vice-principal Y Meena, Pastor R P Das, Srikanth, TRS leaders Damodar Reddy and Ram Mohan Raju.
