Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones, the Countess of Wessex, Vice-Patron of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust (QEDJT) on Tuesday visited the Niloufer hospital to see the impact of the ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) program supported by the trust.

Nampally: Sophie Helen Rhys-Jones, the Countess of Wessex, Vice-Patron of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust (QEDJT) on Tuesday visited the Niloufer hospital to see the impact of the ROP (Retinopathy of Prematurity) program supported by the trust.

Upon her arrival, Sophie was welcomed by team of doctors of Niloufer hospital. She examined the equipment available at the state-run hospital and expressed satisfaction. The representatives of Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGGDA) welcomed her with flower bouquet and briefed her about the facilities available for treating the ailment that afflicts the eyes of preterm babies. The doctors also explained that the state government was preparing a mechanism for early detection of ROP.

It may be mentioned here that on Monday she visited LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) to see the impact of the ROP program, supported by the QEDJ Trust. QEDJ Trust has been supporting the ROP program for the states of Telangana and Odisha, in close collaboration with the governments of Telangana and Odisha, since the past five years. During her visit, the Countess of Wessex interacted with the Paediatric and ROP teams of LVPEI and discussed the way forward.
