TRS working president and minister KT Rama Rao on Sunday extended greetings to the Telangana people 'Deeksha Divas' which is celebrated on November 29 every year commemorating the indefinite strike taken up by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao demanding separate statehood for Telangana.

"Deeksha Divas-November 29, the day that changed the fate of Telangana movement uniting all the people from all communities to achieve separate statehood," the minister tweeted.


TRS leader and Nizamabad MLC K Kavitha also recalled the struggle of the party supremo and Chief Minister who took up an indefinite strike on November 29. The TRS party has been organising Deeksha Diwas on November 29 for the past 11 years.



K Chandrasekhar Rao had launched the indefinite strike in Karimnagar, but the police arrested him and shifted to sub-jail in Khammam where he continued the strike. Later, the police shifted him to NIMS in Hyderabad for security reasons and it was during Rao's hospitalization, the centre announced separate statehood for Telangana.
