Education needs skill-based short courses: Madhusudan Sai

Hyderabad: Emphasising the need for greater efforts to bridge the gap between the current education system and industry requirements, Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai, founder of One World One Family Mission, stated that skill based short term courses are the need of the hour. He announced that such courses will soon be introduced across their educational institutions.

He was responding to questions posed by Daggubati Suresh Babu, Tollywood producer, Chairman of Ramanaidu Studios, and Managing Director of Suresh Productions, during the Compassion in Action event held in the city on Friday. During the interaction, Madhusudan Sai underscored the urgent need for reforms in the education sector.

In many advanced countries, including the United States, students are no longer coming forward for long term courses. In India, a significant gap exists between what students learn in colleges and what industry actually needs, making necessary reforms in education imperative. Cautioning that educational institutions should never become commercial hubs, he pointed out the absence of value and moral education in many schools today, noting that many parents consider these classes a waste of time. He observed that the lack of moral education is a key reason behind how Gen Z and Gen Alpha generations have turned out today.

Responding to common criticisms directed at Gen Z, Madhusudan Sai noted that this generation learns faster and is much smarter, which elders must accept, while youth must consciously practice slowing down their pace of life. Highlighting ongoing healthcare initiatives, he shared that extensive medical research is underway at Madhusudan Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Muddenahalli. He informed the gathering that they have developed an integrated treatment method combining four approaches focused on wellness and longevity, currently seeking a patent, alongside substantial work in precision medicine, targeted medicine, and genomics.

The event witnessed an emotional testimony from Bhavana, a Class 10 student from Sri Sathya Sai Prashanthi Niketanam campus in Kondapaka, Siddipet, who shared her personal journey of overcoming immense hardships with Madhusudan Sai’s support. Earlier, Rajesh KS, Head of Operations at Lloyds Technology Centre, delivered introductory remarks urging corporate leaders to visit rural areas to devise practical solutions, while Sowmya, Trust Officer of Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Group of Hospitals, hosted the programme.

A captivating performance was presented by Sai Symphony Orchestra, comprising students from Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence and Sathya Sai Loka Seva Gurukulam, which officially earned a place in the Guinness World Records in 2025.
