Gandhi Hospital nurses seek job security
The staff nurses of United Care Development Services at Gandhi Hospital submitted a representation to Superintendent Dr Shravan Kumar on Friday.
Secunderabad: The staff nurses of United Care Development Services at Gandhi Hospital submitted a representation to Superintendent Dr Shravan Kumar on Friday. As many as 19 nurses informed him that despite working in MECO (ICU) division for four years, they were being threatened with removals.
The nurses said that they were being made to cover 65 beds, along with the staff of a private agency. A notice had been served to them by the agency a month ago warning of dismissals. They appealed to the superintendent to consider the case on humanitarian grounds and to utilise their services on a contract basis. They pleaded to the superintendent to save their jobs.
Dr Kumar told the nurses that their issue would be taken to the notice of the Director of Medical Education. He said the services rendered by the nurses had generated confidence among patients. He said no discussions on the issue could be held in view of the code of conduct for elections. He assured them that they would be given a chance on outsourcing basis if there was any possibility.
