Hyderabad: As many as 43 more Basti Dawakhanas are coming up within GHMC limits by the end of February. GHMC and Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) are planning to operate evening consultation from 4.30 pm to 7.30 pm at 18 Dawakhanas in the city.

These include 10 centers in the east zone covering Kapra, Uppal and Hayathnagar circles, 13 in the south zone covering Malakpet, Charminar and Chandrayagutta circles, Yakutpura circle, 6 in central zone covering Goshamahal, Musheerabad and Amberpet circles, 6 in west zone covering Moosapet, Kukatpally, Yousufguda and Jubilee Hills, and 8 in north zone covering Alwal, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad, and Begumpet circles.

"At present, 123 Basti Dawakhanas are operational in Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Medchal under the GHMC limits. As per instructions of the Minister of MA&UD, KT Rama Rao, for setting two dawakhanas in every division, the GHMC has deployed five members team to identify the clinics. Where there is a rush of patients, there we would set up evening consultation and planning to operate it in 18 dawakhanas. Daily around 150-200 patients are availing the service at the center," said D Sai Varun, City Programme Officer, NHM (National Health Mission).

The clinics are also providing specialist services through telemedicine that includes physiotherapy, pulmonology, dermatology, pediatrics, orthopedics, general surgery, psychology and ENT etc. twice a week or based on the appointments.
