International meet on history of Unani begins
The first international conference on the history of Unani medicine began here on Thursday.
Pahadishareef: The first international conference on the history of Unani medicine began here on Thursday. The three-day meet is being organised by the Nayyar-e-Tibb Hakim Ahmed Ashraf Academy for Public Health and Medical Heritage in collaboration with Dr Ahmed Ashraf Memorial Unani Specialty Treatment Center for Paralysis at Pahadishareef in Jalpally on Thursday.
The conference was inaugurated by Prof Ahmed Kamal, Province Chancellor, Hamdard University, New Delhi. Padmashri Prof HK Syed Zill-ur-Rahman, Honorary Treasurer, Aligarh Muslim University, presided over the inaugural function.
Amongst guests of honour were Dr B M Najeeb, Head, Institute of Indigenous Medicine University of Colombo, Prof Munawar Hussain Kazmi, Director, National Institute of Research of Unani Medicine, Hyderabad, Dr Md Idrees, Principal, A&U Tibbiya College, Karol Bagh, Delhi. Hakim Waseem Ahmed Azmi, former Director of CRIUM (Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine), rendered the keynote address. Many eminent dignitaries invited speakers and guest speakers were present on the occasion.
A souvenir was released on the occasion. An exhibition on ancient surgical instruments discovered by AI Zahravi is on the display for delegates," informed Dr Afshan Jabeen Ashraf.
