Irregularities in caste certificates alleged
SC Reservation Parirakshna Samithi president Karne Srisailam alleged that local VROs and RIs were indulged in irregularities while issuing caste certificates in mandal limits.
Malkajgiri: SC Reservation Parirakshna Samithi president Karne Srisailam alleged that local VROs and RIs were indulged in irregularities while issuing caste certificates in mandal limits.
On Wednesday, activists of the Samithi staged protest in front of Malkajgiri Revenue office and submitted a memorandum demanding stringent field verification be taken by revenue officials before issuing SC certificates.
Speaking on the occasion, Karne Srisailam alleged that some people who had converted to Christianity were being given SC certificates by VROs and RIs without proper field verification.
SCs who have converted to Christianity should be issued BC certificates rather than SC certificates as per GO no. 1793, but proper care was not being taken by revenue officials while issuing caste certificates, he lamented.
Revenue officials need to check whether the SCs who have applied for caste certificates have converted to other religion or are practising Hindu religion before issuing SC certificates, he said.
Srisailam demanded that the government take necessary measures to prevent misuse of SC caste certificates. Among those who participated in the protest include M Balram, CB Venkatesh, Ramakrishna. Sridevi, Sai, V Sunny and others.
