Hyderabad: Ibrahimpatnam MLA Malreddy Ranga Reddy has responded to what he described as “misleading propaganda” by BRS leaders on social media following his recent journey on an RTC bus to assess the implementation of the free bus travel scheme for women.
Ranga Reddy said he boarded an RTC bus at Bonglur ORR on Tuesday to observe how the free travel facility was being implemented. He noted that the Ibrahimpatnam area is a major college hub and that a large number of women students use the scheme.
According to Ranga Reddy, during the journey, some female students approached him and he interacted with them in a friendly manner. He said he spoke to the students affectionatelyand maintained that he has immense respect for women.
The MLA alleged that BRS leaders and their “paid teams” circulated misleading footage of the incident on social media. He claimed that the video was recorded while the bus was turning at a junction and was subsequently presented in a manner that distorted the context of his interaction with the students.
Ranga Reddy said it was inappropriate to misrepresent a normal and affectionate conversation with the young women. He urged the public to consider the full context of the incident and questioned the manner in which the BRS allegedly portrayed the episode on social media.
He reiterated that he respects women and treats them with the same regard as the women members of his own family.
