Hyderabad: Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Sunday said there was considerable scope for strengthening cooperation between Telangana and Japan in sectors such as IT, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing.
The Speaker said that discussions were held with representatives from Hiroshima on areas of mutual cooperation. The Speaker was speaking as the chief guest in the Hyderabad Japan Festival 2026, organised by Nara Japan Hub at Cyber Gardens in HITEC City attracting thousands of visitors.
The festival provided a vibrant platform to showcase Japanese culture, traditions, technology, education and employment opportunities, drawing an enthusiastic response from the people of Hyderabad. The Speaker emphasised that exchanges of experience between the legislative bodies of the two regions could further strengthen their relationship and promote closer engagement.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Takashi Nakamoto, Chairman of the Hiroshima Prefectural Assembly; Munio Takahashi, Consul General of Japan; Toru Yoshimatsu, Vice Governor of Hiroshima; Teruo Yamazaki, Deputy Mayor of Miyoshi City, Kazuki Takano, Executive Director of J CLAIR, H Furuta, President of the Japanese Association of Hyderabad and Kashyap Varun, founder of Kitolit Robotics. Dr B Rama Bhadra, founder of Nara Japan Hub, and B Naganath, its co-founder, organised the event.
Minister Vivek Venkataswamy said the Telangana government was committed to equipping young people with the skills required to access international employment opportunities, particularly in Japan. He urged Japanese companies to explore investment opportunities in Telangana and strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. He noted that 169 Japanese companies were already operating in Telangana, with significant scope for expanding collaboration in information technology, automobiles, semiconductors and advanced manufacturing.
The festival offered visitors an immersive experience of Japanese culture, traditional arts and modern technology. Japanese university participation, traditional cuisine, art forms, dance performances and martial arts were among the major attractions.
