Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, 24-year-old TGSRTC woman conductor Gundla Pravalika, who sustained critical injuries after allegedly being pushed out of a moving bus by a woman passenger on October 25, died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Tuesday night.
Pravalika, who worked at the Manuguru depot, had been battling for her life for nearly 10 days at Sai Sanjeevani Hospital. According to TGSRTC, the incident occurred when a woman passenger Mounika, boarded the bus travelling from Manuguru to Bhadrachalam, along with her son. An argument reportedly broke out over the ticket fare for the boy and the return of change after the passenger handed over a Rs 100 note. The disagreement allegedly escalated, with the passenger pushing Pravalika out of the moving bus.
She sustained grievous injuries, including a crushed right leg and serious injuries to her left leg. She was shifted to a hospital in Bhadrachalam before being moved to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Following the tragic death, the state government, announced a support to Pravalika’s mother, including a government job, an Indiramma house and an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh as compensation from the government and an accidental insurance of Rs 1 crore through the bank under an RTC initiative.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar consoled Pravalika’s mother and assured her that the government and the entire RTC family would stand firmly by the bereaved family during this difficult time.
The minister stated that the accused woman, who was initially booked for attempted murder, would now face a murder charge following Pravalika’s death.
TGSRTC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Y Nagireddy also expressed profound grief over Pravalika’s death, describing it as an irreparable loss to the corporation.
The MD spoke with the Superintendent of Police of Bhadradri Kothagudem district and directed that a murder case be registered against the accused woman and strict legal action be initiated.
He reiterated that the corporation would take stringent measures to prevent attacks on employees performing their official duties.
