Traffic jams galore at RK Puram flyover
If the commuters are stuck in the morning due to vehicle break downs, heavy vehicles are a cause for traffic jams in the evening.
R K Puram: Commuters from Neredmet towards RK Puram are stranded on the RKPuram flyover every other day as some vehicle or the other breaks down. Mohan, a private employee said, "I was late to office by 30 minutes as I was stuck on the bridge." If the commuters are stuck in the morning due to vehicle break downs, heavy vehicles are a cause for traffic jams in the evening.
The poor condition of the flyover has been neglected from past 2 years. The residents of the nearby areas including Sainikpuri, Neredmet, G K Colony and others have no other option left apart from travelling from this flyover. The RK Puram flyover is also one of the busiest areas, especially during the morning around 8:00 am to 11:00 am and in the evening after 5:00 pm.
The flyover is filled with damaged potholes and improper level of the road after every minute of travelling through the flyover. It has been almost 2 months and still the Lalaguda Bridge is getting renovated which is causing inconvenience to the locals there. The similar condition is of the roads in Sainikpuri near United Church. Even if the authorities are going to renovate the RK Puram flyover, it needs to be done as soon as possible before the condition gets worse in this area.
Be it 108/102 emergency services or private ambulances, the traffic congestion is so pathetic in this area that doesn't let these emergency ambulances to leave.
Rajesh J, owner of Prem Sports said, "During the evening timings after 5:00 pm there is a heavy traffic jam near the flyover. The people who come to my shop find it very difficult to park their vehicles because of the traffic jam. There are many two and four wheeler vehicles that get their vehicles down the road and drive to get out of traffic, which causes more inconvenience to the other people. It has been years of this condition in this area. The motorists and the bus drivers overtake from the wrong side."
Abhishek S, a resident of the area said, "Traffic in this area is increasing day by day. The people have to travel unwillingly from the flyover to reach their destinations without any other alternative road. And since there are malls and other big shops that is getting opened nearby, the traffic condition is getting worst."
"There are many accidents that have been happening in this flyover from past years. This condition of the road is causing a lot of inconvenience to us locals." added Abhishek.
A commuter, Rajgopal R said, "The traffic congestion in this area has become worse. Many times the two wheeler motorists ride their vehicles on footpath because of the traffic and improper condition of the road. It is very difficult for the pedestrians to walk even in the footpath. Going by walk or by your own vehicle, it has become a challenge to get out of this flyover."
