TS Deputy Speaker launches saree distribution at Secunderabad

Secunderabad: Telangana Assembly Deputy Speaker Teegulla Padma Rao Goud launched the Bathukamma saree distribution in Secunderabad assembly constituency on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Padma Rao Goud said that the saree distribution was started by the state government in 2017 and since then about one crore sarees were being distributed to women every year in the state. Sarees are being distributed to all the women who are above 18 years, irrespective of religion and caste and this year about 15.4 lakh sarees are being distributed in the city alone.
In the five divisions of the Secunderabad assembly constituency, 60,580 beneficiaries would receive sarees this year, compared to 34,685 beneficiaries, Goud said. Sarees would also be distributed from Wednesday in various divisions through ration shops, he added.
