Victory of good over evil

A Kuchipudi dance ballet 'Mahishasura Mardhani' was performed by a team of dancers under the direction of Pasumarti Venkateshwara Sharma at Amphitheater in Shilparamam on Sunday evening.

The theme of the dance was based on the Hindu mythological story of Mahishasura, a demon who does penance to God Brahma and gets boon that he would not be killed by men. Assuming immense powers, the demon attacks three worlds and takes control. When Indra and other gods approach Shiva, he creates a 'Maha Shakti', mother Goddess, who kills the demon.

The team of dancers include Kashi Vishwanath, PasumarthiVenkateshwar Rao, PaleshwaramVenkateshwarulu, Kathyayini, Bhavani, Uma and others. The ballet was well appreciated, and the applause was resounding providing a well-deserved encouragement to the artistes.
