ABVP demands probe into women’s hostel incident
Wanaparthy: The ABVP has questioned the conduct of officials regarding the incident where girl students fell ill at the Pebbair government women’s college hostel. The student leaders visited both the hostel and the PHC on Friday.
They arranged an ambulance to transport the affected students to PHC. Prioritising their health, they participated in relief efforts; continuously monitored the students’ condition and ensured they received assistance.
The ABVP questioned why the additional collector and the DMHO arrived at the scene and created a commotion only at the last minute; what was the reason for the delay in the officials’ response when the girls had fallen ill and were being treated since morning? The leaders alleged they received no proper response despite repeatedly calling the DMHO.
The ABVP demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the incident under the supervision of the collector to identify the causes of the students’ illness. The investigation should also examine when officials were informed, when they responded, and why there was no response to phone calls by the DMHO. In addition to inspecting the hostel’s food quality, drinking water, hygiene and maintenance, appropriate action must be taken against the college principal and officials found negligent.
