Khammam: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Sunday said the state government was committed to the welfare of poor and needy people. The Minister distributed Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak and Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) cheques to beneficiaries from Edulapuram Municipality and Khammam Rural mandal at his camp office in Khammam. As many as 51 beneficiaries from Khammam Rural mandal received Kalyana Lakshmi cheques worth Rs 50.05 lakh.
Under the CMRF, 70 beneficiaries from Edulapuram Municipality received Rs 23.66 lakh, while 95 beneficiaries from Khammam Rural mandal received Rs 28.79 lakh.
In all, 216 beneficiaries received financial assistance totalling Rs 1.02 crore. Of these, 165 beneficiaries received CMRF assistance amounting to Rs 52.45 lakh. Speaking on the occasion, Ponguleti said the CMRF scheme was providing crucial financial support to poor and middle-class families who had undergone emergency medical treatment at corporate and private hospitals.
He said the government was committed to being a people-oriented government and was implementing welfare schemes on a larger scale to extend greater benefits to the public compared with previous administrations.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the Minister for the financial assistance.
Camp office in-charge Thumburu Dayakar Reddy, Congress Khammam Rural mandal president Thota Veerabhadram, Edulapuram Municipality Congress president Banoth Kishore Naik, along with public representatives, Congress leaders and activists, attended the programme.
