Robust arrangements ordered for Vanakalam paddy procurement

Kumuram Bheem Asifabad: District Collector K. Haritha has directed officials to make comprehensive arrangements for the procurement of Vanakalam paddy for the 2026-27 season. At a review meeting held at the Integrated District Collectorate on Friday, she said around 23,900 metric tonnes of paddy were expected to reach procurement centres and instructed all centres to begin operations from October 1.

The Collector ordered officials to provide drinking water, shade, lighting and easy vehicle access at the centres. She also directed them to ensure sufficient gunny bags, paddy cleaners, tarpaulins, dryers and two electronic weighing machines at every centre. Adequate hamalis should be deployed, while farmers should be advised to bring clean grain with moisture below 17 percent. Officials were instructed to transport procured paddy to allotted mills and arrange warehouses. Flex banners displaying facilities, MSP and the ₹500-per-quintal bonus for fine-variety paddy must also be installed.
