KMC commissioner unveils draft proposal for 68 reorganised wards

Kurnool: The Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) has published the draft proposal for the delimitation and reorganisation of municipal wards in accordance with the revised schedule issued by the State government, Municipal Commissioner Challa Obulesu announced on Saturday.

The draft plan was officially displayed on the notice board at the municipal corporation office.

Addressing media persons, Commissioner Obulesu stated that the existing 52 electoral wards are proposed to be reorganised into 68 wards based on 2011 Census data.

Detailing the geographical breakdown, he explained that 42 wards would fall under the Kurnool Assembly constituency, 22 wards under the Kallur Urban area of Panyam constituency, and four wards under the Kodumur constituency.

He highlighted that ward boundaries were realigned keeping in view local geographical conditions, administrative feasibility, and civic requirements.

Residents, public representatives, political parties, and local civic organizations can submit their written suggestions, feedback, and objections regarding the draft boundary changes to the Town Planning Department at the municipal office until September 11.

The Commissioner noted that the submission timeline was extended following government revisions to the official schedule.

According to the finalized roadmap, all received objections and recommendations will be scrutinized on September 12, followed by the formal resolution process on September 13.

The final delimitation structure comprising 68 wards will be officially notified by the State government on September 14. Obulesu assured that the entire reorganisation exercise would be executed with complete transparency.
