Kurnool: A major accident was narrowly averted near Kodumur in Kurnool district in the early hours of Wednesday when a private sleeper bus collided with a cement-laden lorry.
Although the incident caused panic among travelers, all 36 occupants of the bus escaped safely without serious injuries.
According to preliminary information, the Karnataka-registered Goutur sleeper bus was traveling from Hyderabad towards Ballari. The mishap occurred when the bus driver attempted to overtake a cement lorry proceeding from Gadivemula towards Ballari, resulting in the bus hitting the heavy vehicle’s rear portion.
The impact left the front end of the private bus extensively damaged and badly mangled. The collision created a tense situation at the spot as passengers and passing motorists gathered around the wreckage.
Passengers expressed immense relief after emerging safely from the damaged vehicle.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the crash, including whether overspeeding or negligent overtaking played a role.
