Kurnool: Officials have called for effective management of solid waste at the village level by converting waste into wealth and strengthening sanitation practices.
A one-day training and exposure visit on vermicompost preparation was organized at the
Solid Waste Processing Centre (SWPC) shed at Potlapadu village in Devanakonda mandal on Wednesday.
The programme aimed to create awareness among Panchayat staff on scientific processing and utilization of wet waste.
Organized on the directions of senior Panchayat Raj officials and the District Collector, the event was attended by MPDO Jyothi, Dy MPDO P Gopal, PDOs, Panchayat Secretaries, CLAP Mitras, and Green Ambassadors.
During the session, participants received practical demonstrations on source segregation, collecting organic waste, maintaining vermicompost beds, and producing quality organic manure for agriculture.
MPDO Jyothi stated that efforts will be made to scientifically convert local wet waste into compost to assist farmers.
Furthermore, steps will be taken to enable CLAP Mitras to earn additional income by selling the compost. Officials emphasized that proper waste management keeps villages clean while generating sustainable income opportunities, urging staff to foster community awareness on waste segregation.
