Mahabubnagar: Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Marepally Surender Reddy (MSR) called for grand and peaceful celebrations of the Dussehra Sharannavaratri festivities in the city, ensuring that no untoward incidents occur.
He attended a preparatory meeting organised by the Dussehra Utsav Committee at the Arya Samaj Dayanand Vidya Mandir premises in Mahabubnagar. Red Cross Society president Ravi Kumar and DCC general secretary Chandrakumar Goud were also present as chief guests.
Speaking on the occasion, MSR said Dussehra, a festival representing Telangana’s culture and traditions, conveys the message of the victory of good over evil and should promote unity and happiness among people. He assured that the Municipal Corporation would make comprehensive arrangements for drinking water, electricity, sanitation and street lighting at all major festival venues to ensure the convenience of devotees. He said the civic body would extend full support to Dussehra festival committees and youth organisations. Corporators, festival committee president Bharathwaj, committee members, officials, prominent persons and local residents attended the meeting.
