Mahabubnagar: Devarakadra MLA G Madhusudhan Reddy (GMR) on Tuesday announced that a sub-registrar office, fire station and police circle office would be established in Devarakadra soon.

The MLA distributed smart ration cards to beneficiaries in Balsupalli village under Devarakadra Municipality. Later, he distributed school uniforms to students at the village primary school.

Speaking on the occasion, GMR said that ration cards were essential to access various government welfare schemes and represented the self-respect of poor families, and added that the Congress government was ensuring that every eligible family received a smart ration card.

He added that Telangana was spending Rs. 13,000 crore annually to distribute fine rice to white ration cardholders through fair price shops. While highlighting development works in Devarakadra, GMR criticised the previous BRS government for failing to establish a degree college, hospital and court or grant municipal status to the town during its ten-year rule.

He said the Congress government had upgraded Devarakadra as a municipality, established a degree college and court, and laid the foundation stone for a 100-bed hospital. Construction work was progressing rapidly, and the hospital would be inaugurated on Ugadi, he announced.

The MLA further said that efforts were being made to transform the industrially backward constituency into an industrial hub and generate employment opportunities for local youth.

He stated that the BrahMos missile manufacturing unit was being brought to Devarakadra and that land acquisition for the project had been completed.

Local public representatives, faculty members, Congress leaders and party workers participated in the programme.
