Pending irrigation projects will be completed: GMR

Mahabubnagar: Devarkadra MLA G Madhusudan Reddy (GMR) said the government was committed to providing irrigation water to farmers and completing all pending irrigation projects. He inspected the Teeler pump house and reviewed the water release arrangements with officials. He said officials had switched on two motors at the Undyala pump house on Friday morning and released water to Koilsagar.

Reddy thanked the Karnataka government for responding positively to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s request to address the irrigation needs of farmers in Telangana during the present difficult situation. He particularly thanked Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar for cooperating in releasing water to Jurala and said the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme would be completed up to Karivena by June next year to provide irrigation water to farmers.

He said water would be supplied to farmers through the warabandi system on an on-and-off basis, as discussed at a recent review meeting in Wanaparthy.

The MLA criticised the previous BRS government, alleging that it had failed to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy project despite being in power for ten years. He said the project could have prevented the present irrigation difficulties in the region had it been completed earlier.

He alleged that the then BRS public representatives from the erstwhile Palamuru district had failed to exert pressure on the government for completion of the project. GMR said the Congress government had accelerated pending works and would rectify the alleged injustice done to Palamuru farmers, with the aim of making the district agriculturally prosperous.
