Rajamahendravaram: The counting of votes for Korukonda ZPTC seat in East Godavari district on Saturday triggered a controversy, with former MLA and YSRCP State youth wing president Jakkampudi Raja staging a protest demanding recounting.

Raja alleged irregularities in the counting process and questioned the declaration of the TDP candidate as the winner at the last moment, despite initial counting trends reportedly showing a lead of over 800 votes for the YSRCP candidate.

Expressing serious doubts over the counting process, Raja demanded a comprehensive recounting of votes to ensure justice. He staged a sit-in on the road outside the counting centre, insisting that the authorities conduct a recount. Raja made it clear that he would not call off the protest until recounting was conducted and justice was done.
