Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr G Lakshmisha, Police Commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu and Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra paid rich tributes to renowned Telugu poet and writer Gurajada Venkata Apparao on the occasion of his birth anniversary in Vijayawada on Monday.
Dr Lakshmisha, along with joint collector S Ilakkiya and District Revenue Officer (DRO) M Lakshmi Narasimham, paid floral tributes to Gurajada’s portrait at the Pingali Venkayya Hall in the Collectorate.
The collector said Gurajada Apparao was a literary visionary who enriched Telugu literature and inspired social change through his writings. His works questioned social inequalities, superstitions and prevailing social evils and encouraged people to work towards reform.
The Commissioner added that the message “Desamante mattikadoi... Desamante manushuloi” continued to remind people of their responsibility towards society.
