Pragna Parande, member of NCPCR warns nobody will be spared in case of atrocities and sexual harassment against children

Vijayawada: It is the responsibility of everyone to protect the children in society, said Pragna Parande, member of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR).

She was here on a visit to the district. District collector A Md Imtiaz paid a courteous call to her at the State Guest House.

Pragna Parande enquired with the district officials about the details of children staying in the rescue homes and the facilities they were being provided there. She said that they should observe Covid-19 guidelines compulsorily.

Stating that nobody would be spared in case of atrocities and sexual harassment of children in general and girls in particular, she said that throughout the country 117 districts were selected for child protection and in the first phase, programmes were launched in 57 districts.

Imtiaz informed the NCPCR member that there were 687 children in the rescue homes in the district and they were provided with essential commodities during the Covid-19 period. He elaborated the protection programmes undertaken by the district administration. He also explained the member about the action taken in case of child marriages in the district. District probation officer K Bhaskara Rao was also present.
