Anakapalli: Anakapalli MP CM Ramesh assured that the Central and State governments will accord top priority to the welfare of disabled persons and extend all possible assistance to help them lead dignified, independent and self-reliant lives.
Speaking at a tri-scooter distribution programme held at the district Collectorate on Saturday, the MP recalled that persons with disabilities in Anakapalli had personally brought their grievances to his attention and their concerns were also raised in Parliament to draw the attention of the authorities concerned.
CM Ramesh mentioned that efforts would be made to organise special camps to identify the individual needs of disabled persons and provide them with modern technological equipment, specialised machinery, spectacles and other assistive devices available worldwide. He stressed the need for coordination among the departments concerned to ensure that beneficiaries receive equipment suited to their specific requirements.
The MP urged them to draw inspiration from those who achieved remarkable success in various fields despite their challenges. He emphasised the role of parents and family members in recognising, encouraging and nurturing their talents. Highlighting the importance of financial independence, Ramesh advised persons with disabilities to make effective use of government welfare schemes and bank loan facilities to establish small shops, self-employment units and other businesses. He informed that awareness would be created about the opportunities available to help them become financially independent.
Further, the MP stated that the feasibility of providing electric vehicle (EV) tricycles would be examined in future to improve mobility and transportation facilities for them. Expressing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM K Pawan Kalyan, he said welfare and development programmes for persons with disabilities would be expanded further.
District Collector Vijaya Krishnan thanked CM Ramesh for allocating funds from MPLADS for establishing six Bhavita Centres in Anakapalli district. She added the centres play a crucial role in providing education, training and care to children with special needs, helping them develop their abilities and improve their quality of life.
As part of the first phase of the initiative, 52 three-wheelers were distributed across the district. Anakapalli MLA Konathala Rama Krishna, Madugula MLA Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy and Elamanchili MLA Sundarapu Vijay Kumar attended the programme.
