International virtual workshop on ‘Scour and Erosion’

Visakhapatnam: The International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) in association with Department of Civil Engineering and Andhra University College of Engineering (AUCE) is organising a virtual workshop on 'Scour and Erosion' on Wednesday. The international workshop is intended to create awareness and expose the civil engineering professionals to the causes for soil erosion, scour and impart knowledge on various mitigation methods.

It will be inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of the university PVGD Prasad Reddy, while the Department of Civil Engineering, (AUCE), C N V Satyanarayana Reddy is the coordinator of the workshop.

Shinji Sassa, Chairman, Technical Committee (TC)-213 of ISSMGE, E C Shin, Incheon National University, South Korea and Vice President (Asia) Jie Han of Kansas University (USA), among others will deliver the lectures related to the issues of coastal and river scour and erosion, surface/sub-surface erosion of soils and deals with the remedial measures to be adopted to control scour and erosion.

More than 500 participants, including academicians, engineers and researchers from India and abroad, are participating in the event. The live streaming of the event is available on YouTube at youtu.be/vscbSSM2KL4.
