Dalits must stand united against insults to their dignity: Nagaraju

Hanumakonda: Wardhannapet MLA and retired IPS officer K.R. Nagaraju said the people should teach the BRS a fitting lesson for allegedly insulting the dignity and self-respect of Dalits.

Nagaraju participated in a protest organised by the United Forum of Mala and Madiga Sub-castes at Indira Park on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, he said any attempt to undermine the self-respect of Dalits would not be tolerated. He called upon members of the Mala and Madiga communities to remain united and fight for their rights and dignity. Criticising BRS leaders, he condemned the reported incident in which a place visited by Dalits was allegedly purified with turmeric water, describing it as a reflection of a regressive mindset.

Nagaraju urged the Dalit community to demonstrate its collective strength and expose what he described as the BRS’s attitude towards Dalits over the past decade. He called for the party to be held accountable through democratic means. He reiterated his commitment to working collectively to safeguard Dalit rights and self-respect, and said incidents that insult or humiliate Dalits should not be tolerated.

MLCs, MLAs, leaders of Dalit organisations, and Congress party leaders and cadres participated in the protest.
