Hyderabad: Ever since the announcement of the schedule for the General elections, City police have intensified its drive against illegal money circulation in the city. On Tuesday, police seized Rs 90.5 lakh cash during the vehicle checking in different parts of the city.

According to City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, during the vehicle checkings, they arrested Devesh Kothari, Bhakti Prajapati, both natives of Gujarat and Vishal Jain of Goshamahal and Khan Bilal Naseem of Erragadda, who were carrying a huge amount of money on their bikes at four different places in Kachiguda and Sultan Bazar police station limits.

Anjani Kumar said on enquiry they could not produce any document related to the cash which they were carrying. Police seized Rs 90.50 lakh net cash, 3 cash counting machines, 4 bikes and other incriminating material from them. The cash and other material will be handed over to the Income Tax Department for further investigation.

CP Anjani Kumar appealed to the general public that since the Model Code of Conduct is in force, the public who are carrying cash should also carry the documents pertaining to the cash. Regular vehicle checking will be conducted and strict surveillance will be maintained in this regard.
