Kathmandu: As Nepal grapples with the aftermath of devastating floods, authorities are facing significant challenges in identifying the 1,344 deceased and nearly 5,000 missing, prompting DNA collection efforts and urgent calls for climate justice. Rescuers in Nepal continued searching for those missing, as authorities faced continuing difficulties in identifying the dead, 11 days after devastating floods struck large parts of the country.

Authorities face immense challenges in identifying victims due to severe damage and decomposition of bodies, with only 98 identified so far. Nepal Police are collecting DNA samples from relatives of missing persons to help identify unclaimed bodies and human remains.

The Nepalese government is actively involved in relief and rehabilitation, ensuring no shortage of materials and planning long-term settlements for flood victims.
