The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that there are a total of 78,003 cases of coronavirus recorded so far from various parts of the country.

While there are 49,219 active cases, the deadly virus has claimed the lives of 2,549 people. Around 26,234 patients have been cured and discharged from the hospital, while one patient has migrated.

Maharashtra has reported the highest number of cases of COVID-19 in the country with 25,922 cases. The state has contributed 33% of the total case-load of COVID-19 in the country. Maharashtra has reported 975 deaths, while 5547 people in the state have recovered.

The total number of coronavirus positive cases in Mumbai went past the 15,000 mark on Wednesday. The city's current COVID-19 count stands at 15,581. The Maximum City has reported nearly a fifth of the country's total number of coronavirus positive cases.

Gujarat with 9267 cases of coronavirus positive patients has reported a high death count of 566. 3562 people in the state have either been cured or discharged.

Tamil Nadu is 40 cases behind Gujarat reporting 9227 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday. The death rate in the southern state, however, has been relatively low, with 64 fatalities. Tamil Nadu has reported 2176 cases of recovered patients.

Delhi is two cases shy of the 8,000 mark and has reported 7998 cases of coronavirus positive patients so far. The national capital has recorded 106 deaths and 2858 cases of recovered patients.

Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have also been reporting high numbers of COVID-19 cases. While Rajasthan has reported 4328 coronavirus positive cases and 121 deaths with 2459 recoveries, MP has recorded 4173 cases with a high death rate of 232. 2004 patients have recovered in the state as per official count.
